Every year on December 3 the world marks International Day of the Disabled. On this day people around the world gathered to celebrate disabled people and the contribution they make to their communities but also to advocate for making those communities more inclusive and accessible. Of course we at KEC also marked this day.
The KEC center was full with users, family members and guests who gathered for a day of activities. Milica Ilic, a student of special education and a KEC volunteer, planned and led the day’s multi-faceted program. KEC’s friends from the Mormon community in Belgrade led their weekly English class and then taught all present to sing Silent Night in English. The class was followed by an exhibition of the beneficiaries’ original artworks, refreshments and a lively discussion about what International Day of the Disabled is and what our users, their families and our guests think about it.
On December 3 we at KEC joined the 1 billion other people in the world living with some form of disability to celebrate our achievements and to look forward to achieving even more.
